That's Correct!

You Chose "C" Treacher Collins syndrome – That's Correct!

In Wonder, Auggie's character has Treacher Collins Syndrome.

R.J. Palacio was inspired to write the novel Wonder after taking her son out for ice cream, where they saw a child with Treacher Collins syndrome. Her son cried at the sight of this boy's face.

Treacher Collins Syndrome, also known as Mandibulofacial Dysostosis (MFD), is a genetic disorder resulting in congenital craniofacial malformation. Most affected individuals have underdeveloped facial bones, a very small jaw and chin, a cleft palate, eyes that slant downward, and absent or small ears.

In the film Wonder, every inch of Jacob Tremblay, from head to shoulders, was covered in silicone prosthetics to create the look of someone with Treacher Collins syndrome. It took an hour and a half to apply, and consisted of a skull cap with prosthetic ears attached, a facial prosthetic covering Jacob's face, dental prosthetics, contact lenses, and a wig to tie it all together.
