Ralph Macchio wasn't the only actor in The Karate Kid whose real age was older than a typical high school student. Also playing high school students in the film were Elisabeth Shue, 20; Chad McQueen and Ron Thomas, 22; and Rob Garrison and Tony O'Dell, 23. William Zabka, 18, was the only real teenager of the main cast. While those actors were just a few years away from being teenagers, Stockard Channing was 33 when she portrayed 16-year-old Rizzo in Grease (1978).
